The breakwaters were constructed byDaewoo Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd (South Korea), GCPI (Irag) andTECHNITAL (Italy) in Basra, Iraq on 2 April 2020 as recognized by the Guinness WorldRecords (10)|11] Construction of the initial five berths, as well as roads, and a tunnel to connect it to Um-Qasr port across the Khor-Al-Zubair waterway began. In April 2024, during a visit to Baghdad by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, aquadrilateral memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in the IraqDevelopment Road project was signed between Iraq, Türkiye, Qatar, and the UAE,inked by the transportation ministers from each country. The 1,200-kilometer projectwith railway and highways which will connect the Great Faw Port, aimed to be thelargest port in the Middle East. It is planned to be completed by 2025 to the Turkishborder at an expected cost of $17 billion. (12)[1314][15] On 7 November 2024, a handover ceremony was held at the site of the Grand FawPort, where the Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani announced the completionof the construction of the five initial berths, concluding the first phase of the constructionof the planned 100 berths.(16]

To contribute to development and stability in the country, we improve the services ofthe national health system and promote the training of healthcare professionals. Initiativeshave been launched across the country to support school education, including projects in theschools of Basra Governorate and the Al-Zubair District, and a project to improve the quality ofthe water network in the city of Basra, launched with UNICEF and the European Union, iscurrently ongoing.
